Our mission at Valle Verde House is to accommodate individuals and groups wishing to volunteer here in Costa Rica. We specialize in matching you to a program you'll really enjoy, based upon your skills and interests. We have a variety of ongoing environmental and community development programs from which to choose.
Our ongoing programs involves teachers, students and the whole community in the process of discovering concrete answers to communal and regional problems, and implementing proposed solutions.
Since its foundation, Valle Verde House has proposed to develop a volunteer program in the environmental field. This program searches for the conscience to assume the responsibility that each human being has conserving the Earth.
The objective focuses on improving and developing human supported activities through the environmental-socio economical dynamism.
Throughout the volunteer job, Valle Verde House environmental program, offers to foreign and national participants personal, social, cultural, and academic opportunities. It deals with a series of activities that promote a high educational experience for the people who come in. Also, a Spanish learning program is included in the program cost.
General Description of the Programs
1. Potential Volunteers.
The program is directed to children and teenagers from the province of Cartago mostly. Also, teachers and citizens in general are allowed.
2. Characteristics.
The Environmental Educational Project pretends to involve teachers, students and the whole community in the process, toward the necessity of giving concrete answers to the communal and regional problems.
3. Development of the program.
It is based on an annual program pretending to internalize in the community.
4. Location.
As our planning and operative campus: Valle Verde House.
5. Activities.
a. Training Workshop
b. Specific projects in schools and high schools, and the community (with environmental problems previously described)
c. Environmental Fair: The program concludes with an environmental fair in which the community, children, teenagers and enterprises participate exposing their projects in pro of the environment.
d. The project includes tours through Costa Rica visiting the National Parks.

Don't ever question the value of volunteers. Noah's Ark was built by volunteers; the Titanic was built by professionals.
*Accommodations include your choice of hostel or host family, based on availability. Number of meals daily based on location (1 meal per day with hostel and 3 meals a day with host family).
Hostel accommodations include a shared bedroom and bathroom and communal entertainment/public space areas in the wonderfull Valle de Orosi. Host families are well screened for cleanliness, safety and friendliness. Room sizes and styles will vary but most will provide private bedroom.
Your Free guided tour will depend on your project location. Puerto Viejo and Talamanca Indigenous Reservation project volunteer participants get to choose from either the 'Reventazón and Sarapiquí River Rafting Tour' or the 'Canopy Zip-Line Tour'. Central Valley volunteer participants choose from either the 'Irazu Volcano Tour' or the 'Orosi Valley Tour'. Guanacaste participants enjoy either a Canopy Tour or a Coffee Plantation Tour. Free tours have no value, are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for other tours.
Spanish lessons are custom scheduled for you (normally Monday through Thursday), based upon the number of hours of instruction you select, your project location and schedule.
Our one-week program consists of 6 nights and 7 days, our two-week program consists of 14 days and 13 nights. Additional days or weeks are available for an extra charge.
Your fee covers the various necessary expenses of operating the program. These costs include volunteer training, food, transportation and support for the generous host families who open their homes to our participants.
Additionally, your program fee allows for the assistance of Costa Rica-based staff and coordinators who take care of you before, during, and after your trip. Our staff is dedicated to helping you plan your tropical adventure, making sure it goes smoothly, and ensuring that you get the most out of your volunteer experience.
The community development organizations Tropical Adventures partners with in Costa Rica would not be able to offer their much-needed services without financial and volunteer support from programs like ours. The fees associated with this program help to enable these organizations to continue doing their valuable work.
